Sometimes surprises happen when you least expect it. Volunteers who were hand weeding and mapping last week made a pleasant discovery finding a plant that hadn’t been seen much in the area. Several individuals of Petrophile brevifolia were identified within the S7 site.

The mapping works will assist with identifying Banksias and Tuarts within the site. Banksia Woodlands on the Swan Coastal Plain are a federally listed Threatened Ecological Community (TEC) and the Tuart Woodlands may soon be added to the list. Volunteers are also learning mapping techniques through this process. To get involved contact Cockburn Community Wildlife Corridor.
