From little things big things grow!

It was a glorious day on Sunday 14th July with over 100 people attending the community planting event within Malvolio Bushland in Coolbellup.  Volunteers arrived early to help prepare for the day.  A Welcome to Country was delivered by elder Marie Taylor followed by a brief introduction to the site and a planting demonstration.

Two thousand plants were installed through the area including Banksias (Banksia attenuata and Banksia menziesii) , Spearwood (Kunzea glabrescens)  and Native Blueberries (Dianella revoluta).

The event was followed with a BBQ to catch up with friends and make new ones.  Thanks goes to the Rehabilitating Roe 8 Advisory Committee and community volunteers who made the day a success!

Firebreak network improved!

Works have been underway over the past week installing limestone along the firebreaks within the North Lake Rd East section of the corridor.  These works have seen limestone laid on the track which will be rolled and compacted to allow better movement along this trail network.

Limestone on the firebreaks will assist with improving access to the site for pedestrians and cyclists, reduce the potential for disease spread (Dieback) and reduce the need for chemical and mechanical weed control.  Works are expected to be completed within the coming days.
