Bunuru (February – March)

The Second Summer, or the Season of Adolescence

‘Bunuru’ is one of 6 Noongar Seasons that is represented by the colour orange and is the hottest time of the year, with little to no rain.

The changes in local plants and animals are indicative of the change in seasons. Bunuru is a time of white flowers with lots of white flowering gums in full bloom, including jarrah, marri and ghost gums. Keep an eye out in the corridor for these beautiful flowers.

The next season to follow in April is “Djeran”.

Eucalyptus species in forefront commonly known as a white gum in North Lake Road West (Karak).
