Land Management and Works Update, November 2023

Weed and vegetation management

  • CCWC and KCB hand weeding is ongoing
  • Grass selective treatment completed
  • Treatment of woody weeds is ongoing, including Acacias, Geraldton Wax, Tagasaste, African Boxthorn, Olives, Kurrajong and Japanese Pepper

Land management and rehabilitation

  • 15,000 seedlings planted in May/June
  • Several fence repairs completed
  • 3,000L tank installed as extra capacity for the Cockitrough
  • Feral animal control completed (bees, rabbits, cats and foxes)
  • Watering of seedlings has commenced
  • Firebreaks slashed for fire mitigation
  • All Native bee hotels have been occupied, one has over 20 nests
  • Mature Marri planted in Karak zone

Community Engagement

  • Community planting event held in June
  • Nest monitoring event held in August
  • Karak Cooby Bushcarers launch held in October, over 50 in attendance
