Valiant volunteers target weeds

This week the corridor received some extra help from a team of volunteers from Conservation Volunteers Australia.  The team under the guidance of local flora enthusiast and Cockburn Community Wildlife Corridor bushcare volunteer Diana Corbyn, worked for two days targeting a population of Geraldton Wax bushes in Malvolio Rd part of the corridor and Perennial Veldt Grass(PVG) in S7.

Even with high temperatures the volunteers did an amazing job removing 20m3 of Geraldton Wax and 15 bags of PVG and watered the Hackett’s Hop bushes.  There is still more to do but it’s a step in the right direction.

Last week the corridor also featured as part of the Wetlands Management Conference.  Two presentations on monitoring protocols and development of the Rehabilitation Management Plan were delivered to the audience by Tom Atkinson from Emerge.

A Rehabilitating Roe 8 display was also on site and several conference attendees had the opportunity to meet the Project Manager and view the Rehabilitation Management Plan.
